Yul Brynner, Vin Diesel and Alex Roy

I had my head shaved clean last Thursday, and today I had one of my colleague, in his 40s with mouth as loud as a hailer commenting on my new look.

“You look like Yul Brynner,” he said.

I didn’t said anything, cause if I do then he will start talking to me non-stop as loud as possible. Okay cool, Yul Brynner, now who the hell is that?

Went back to my desk and I Wiki for Yul Brynner. Apparently this guy is an actor who one of his famous movies was the 1956 version of The King And I, in which he won the Best Actor in Academy Awards. Yul Brynner was born in Vladivostok, Russia. He later migrated to USA and begin his acting career first in the stage musical of The King And I.

His other famous movies were The Ten Commandments (1956), the biblical story of Moses, and The Magnificent Seven (1960), which is an American adaptation of Akira Kurosawa’s masterpiece, The Seven Samurai. I haven’t watched any of Yul Brynner’s movies as yet, and am so eager to have a look at The Magnificent Seven since I enjoyed The Seven Samurai which inspired the American adaptation.

Yul Brynner kept his head shaved throughout his life since acting in the movie The King And I, thus during his lifetime the term Yul Brynnes become synonymous with baldness, until his demise in the year 1985. Which explain why my older colleague relates to my new look with Yul Brynner. And which also explain why I don’t even know who is Yul Brynner, because somewhere in 1985 I was a kid who went to Lutheran Church from 8am to 11.30am and with other boys at the kindergarten tried to take a peek under girls’ skirts.

So if we need today’s actor which can be relate to me, than take Vin Diesel. Vin Diesel as most of us know him is bald (like me) with muscular physique (unlike me) and deep voice (unlike me).

To most people Vin Diesel’s most successful films are either The Fast and Furious or XXX. But I personally prefer The Boiler Room (2000) which looks at the scam world of brokerage firms. As I was a business student at that time, the film inspires me a lot about bunch of brokers (in which Vin Diesel is one of them) making big bucks by scamming other people. It makes me dream of scamming all you my blog readers one day.

Vin Diesel is also currently working on another film title Hannibal the Conqueror. The film is directed and acted by Vin Diesel himself (he plays the role of General Hannibal) and is scheduled for release in 2008. I am anticipating this movie as it will not only be about one of the greatest military strategists of all time, but also since it will be done in ancient languages of Phoenician, Greek and Latin.

But talking about great, cool, bald guys, there is no one else who I wish I can rather be than Alex Roy, automotive executive, rally driver, TV personality and philanthropist.

Alex Roy founded Team Polizei 144 in 2002, a rally team aptly name from a secretive German Police Autobahn Intercept Unit of the same name. Team Polizei 144 race around in an infamous heavily modified E39 BMW M5, disguised like a police interceptor of that German Police and speed up in public road, occasionally got pulled over by police unit who were dumbfounded on the police interceptor look a like car.

Team Polizei 144 had won 7 trophies in Gumball 3000 and Bullrun, an international rally event conducted illegally on public road, with participants made up from A-list celebrities, supermodels and socialites in supercars, with wild party every evening during the rally.

Now that is the sort of life I am looking for.
